Undergraduate Programs

The department does not currently offer an undergraduate degree program. However, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography faculty do most of the Earth Sciences and Environmental Systems courses, as well as teaching courses in the Biological Sciences, Physics, and Chemistry Departments.

We are very excited about several new Scripps undergraduate courses now available:

• SIO 87 Freshman Seminar
• SIO 192 Senior Seminar
• SIO 141 Chemical Principles of Marine Systems
• SIO 111 Introduction to Ocean Waves and Tides
• SIO 117 The Physical Climate System

Undergraduates also have the opportunity to take Special Studies classes with Scripps professors, doing research projects for undergraduate credit.
